It was not just observing the many different people in Crawley town centre that set me off on this train of thought. Actually it all started yesterday after a church service where I was discussing, well I say discussing, were actually arguing heavily, about the AV referendum. My friend made the case that if we say yes to AV then it would mean more party representation in the House of Commons for extremist parties. And then I make a point return that if it was the will of the people to elect extremist parties to govern, then people would do so whether it was under first past the post or under an AV system. After a long time about discussing the voting system of the country, we slowly began to move to the purpose of extremist parties. By now some further people had come to join what was now quite lively discussion. One of the people who’ve since joined the discussion posed a question. Should we give a platform say on the BBC, to extremist parties, to express their views? To save arguments we decide to focus on the party called the BNP. Be empty stands for British National party before the last general election they made their views quite clear and some strong issues such as immigration. Their views were so extreme that it was led and some people. This all came to a head, when the BMPs lead Nick Griffin was invited on to the BBC political show Question Time. Many people felt that Nick Griffin should not be allowed to express his (some would say extremist views) on national television.

At this point and debate I was being fired from all sides. I was saying strongly that the BNP should have a platform on national television to express their views. Because from the point of view of the BNP party, their argument is not flawed. However, from people who do not hold the same views as the BNP whether our political views are liberal or conservative or labour inclined. To us (I include myself in the number that does not agree with some of the BNPs views), the argument of the BNPs views on immigration do seem flawed.

I think that we can often take the view in life in general that our view is the only one that matters. To us it is true, but when we are selecting political parties and political ideology to govern us, then we have to take everyone’s views into account. If it is the will of the people this year some extremist views of them I see no problem with that. My learned friend in the debate Tom, they do this as we were in our debate. Everyone has a line in which they feel is that it is acceptable for someone else to express their perhaps controversial views. At every person will be different.

We must always respect each other’s views. Because we have the freedom of speech policy in this country. Once a famous philosopher said (and I stand by this quote as I go through life). I may strongly disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

The first verse of a song that has sold million of records. Lennon is all most prepare us in this verse setting up our minds for a philosophy marvel. In the first four lines Lennon asked us to image that there is no heaven or hell. This means that Lennon is saying that for a perfect world we must no religion.

Can we have no religion in a modern society? (You may disagree and fell free to comment.) I would like to answer that question by asking another. What is you dream? For if your dream is to become a world-famous singer. to find a cure for cancer or any other. Then you have a religion. the principle is simple, if you are successful in you dream the you have pleased you religion.

This also thinks very nicely to the end of the verse. “Imagine all the people, Living for today.” Yes we can live in days were we do not have religion. Then that would away are concept of free will the concept that if none of us can have a dream then we can not be influence by other people.

So can we live in a modern society with no heaven or hell? Yes, but it would be pretty damn boring.

Stage Notes

Staging – The stage opens with a bedroom cut in half with the door (just a hole in the wall) stage right. Pink is the colour that is screaming out of this room the room screams fashion but it does not have many of the finer things in life. There is a bed stage left a simple bed painted pure white almost set apart from the rest of the room.

Character – I have called the character X because I feel that it would be better to add as little personal quality’s to X. X is a young teenager between the ages of 14-17. X is still at school doing either GCSE’s or AS Level Exams.

Casting Note – X can be played by either a girl or a boy. However they must be someone who when they perform the script of the first time they must feel uncomfortable being put the role.

Main note – in the play I use X as ‘he’ I use this in general terms.

One day I was travelling pretty late home from London and for one station the train was full. My attention was drawn to two men; one was in his late-teen, backpack, and the typical picture of a university student. The other was mid-thirty’s suit, shirt and scarf the typical inner city worker a good looking man if I am any judge. Now will ask you now how was happier to be on that train? Luckily by the time I have work all this out the train was less corwarded and I was able to get a seat an watch the two men without seeming as if I was out of there field of vision.

I was lazing around the house doing nothing as it was the school holiday and despite my best efforts all my mates either were of to some unknown relative or have beggared of the some far know corner of the world. So rather on impulse (and because my mum was nagging me). I decided to out for a walk to the Local Park and back. When I got to the park their was nothing out of the ordinary, until I was walking behind a family of pirates. Quite literally dressed up as pirates from the hats to the torn shorts. The whole were proper hard core pirates. This family were making a statement saying ‘We are pirate mad’ and is that really so bad. That was the only person that was different that day. When I got home my mum how was ‘Off sick (?)’. Was watching the ‘One Show’ on are PVR, I had walked in on my mum watching a report by John Sergeant (Strictly come Dancing Drop-out Fame) doing a report on a ‘Wide Load Spotting’ Waiting for lorries with big loads on (e.g. From Fuel to Prot-a-loo’s) in which people will sit for hours on a motorway waiting for a wide load(s). I will let you decide which one is weirder, but I find that a family of pirates put a smile on anyone’s face and there is something interacting about a ‘Wide Load’ and you have got to think, what would we do with out ‘Wide Loads’. The Conclusion, the Pirates Family’s and wide load stoppers are weird there just different. This is the way they like to lead there life’s and who are we to complain.

If you were more of a bookworm, then go to the bookstore or to your local library and read the old classic stories. It always brings me back when i read fairy tales and my old favorite novel, The Baby Sitter’s Club Little Sister =D

We are a race that is quick to judge and I am not saying that all of us are wrong with are first impressions are wrong by no means, but one glance is not enough to judge any one. My old Maths teacher once told me a story about a man and his random act of kindness. My Maths teacher was in London helping out with a charity that gives homeless people some were to stay for Christmas. So she was walking down Oxford Street when saw a man in a suit sitting on the ground talking to a man who she though was homeless. The Man in the suit then got up and when in to a MacDonald’s and came out with two burger meal deal’s. He gave one to the homeless man and he sat eats and talked together as if they were best mates. Now I don’t know how this man was and I don’t know the whole picture. But, what I do know is that man in the suit did not need a second glance, he helped a fellow that was in need. Both men had made a friend that day one that they will never forget. I will leave you with this if it came down to it would you do the same thing.
